Law enforcement officers in Kyiv have notified the general contractor of the Podilsko-Voskresensky Bridge in Kyiv of suspicion of turning a land plot on Trukhaniv Island into a landfill, according to the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
The city prosecutor's office reported on its Telegram channel on Friday that in 2019, the head of the construction site of a private enterprise, which is the general contractor for the Podilsko-Voskresensky Bridge, in collusion with officials of two subcontracting organizations, polluted a land plot on the island with waste.
According to the prosecutor's office, the specified land plot was allocated by the Kyiv's territorial community for the construction site of the bridge.
"The wrongdoers, in order to save money allocated for the removal of construction waste, systematically polluted the above-mentioned land plot with waste harmful to life, human health, and the environment," the prosecutor's office said.
According to the forensic engineering and environmental examination, the damage to the environment amounts to over UAH 129,000.
The head of the construction site of the private enterprise has been notified of suspicion of land pollution with waste harmful to life, human health, or the environment (Part 1 of Article 239, Part 1 of Article 364-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
