Ukraine, Slovakia plan to hold drills to combat illegal migration – Klymenko
Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko discussed border security issues with his Slovak counterpart Matúš Šutaj Eštok.
"With Interior Minister of the Slovak Republic, Matúš Šutaj Eštok, we defined the priorities for cooperation. The focus is on security issues on the common border and migration policy. We have almost 98 km of common border with Slovakia, which requires increased attention from both sides," he wrote on the Telegram channel on Monday.
In addition, attention was paid to discussing measures to combat illegal border crossing. "In the near future, we are planning Ukrainian-Slovakian exercises of border guards, police officers and migration officers to combat illegal migration. In addition, we agreed to work out a mechanism for exchanging data on offenders, as well as joint patrols on problematic areas of the border," Klymenko noted.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine thanked the Government of Slovakia for effective cooperation.
