Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban has called on the European Union to resume active diplomatic relations with Russia as well as talks with China on a "peace conference," Bild reported citing Orban's letter to President of the European Council Charles Michel.

According to the publication, Orban listed ten points with subsections in the letter that is one and a half A4 pages long.

In particular, the Hungarian PM said that "the intensity of the military conflict" in Ukraine "will radically intensify in the near future."

Orban also called in his letter for talks with China on a "peace conference," the resumption of diplomatic relations with Russia, and a "political offensive" against the Global South, whose "esteem we have lost with regard to our stance on the war in Ukraine."

He criticized U.S President Joe Biden, saying that he is allegedly "not in a position to change the current pro-war policy of the USA and therefore cannot be expected to start a new policy." On the other hand, Orban praised Trump for possible ending the war in Ukraine.

"I can say with certainty that immediately after his election victory, he will not wait until his inauguration, but will immediately be ready to act as a peace mediator. He has detailed and well-founded plans for this," the Hungarian PM said in the letter.

He also warned that a Trump election victory will be expensive for the EU.

"I am more than convinced that in the likely event of a victory by President Trump, the financial burden between the US and the EU will change significantly to the detriment of the EU when it comes to financial support for Ukraine," Orban said.
