Zelenskyy announces meeting of Ukrainian and American teams at end of week

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced a meeting of the Ukrainian and American teams at the end of this week to discuss the possibility of future peace talks between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.

"And today there will be a meeting with Kellogg to continue this topic, to develop preparations for the possibility of a future meeting with the Russian side. At the end of the week there will be a meeting of the Ukrainian team and the American team. Accordingly, those people you mentioned, or part of those people," Zelenskyy said at a press conference with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in Kyiv on Monday.

The president also noted that "there will be a lot of work during the week."

According to him, yesterday there were contacts between the head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other partners. Also, Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha joined the online meeting of the heads of foreign ministries of the Group of Seven (G7) on Ukraine's Independence Day. In addition, Zelenskyy reported that "today we have a conversation between our military leadership and partners." There will also be a meeting of national security advisers on Wednesday.

"And it seems to me that we will have a basic plan for security guarantees. I think that the details still need time. We still need to work. And after that, I would like to understand from the American side whether the Russians are ready for the meeting and in what configuration. Are the Russians ready for the configuration that was proposed by America and supported by Ukraine in the presence of European leaders - a bilateral and then a trilateral meeting," the president emphasized.
